Who is Mirabel from Disney’s Encanto?

For those of you who have not been playing Encanto on repeat on your TV since it came out, let’s give you a crash course on Mirabel. 

Mirabel is one of the favorite new Disney characters amongst millions of Disney fans. As the main character in Encanto, (A new Walt Disney Animation Studios’ hit film) she is the only member of the Casa Madrigal who does not have special powers. 

Still, Mirabel maintains her positive outlook on life and holds a fierce love for all of the members of her family. She teaches us the importance of embracing our individualities and the family bond. All of this while becoming a young hero of the movie and singing a ton of catchy songs. 

Plus, she is quirky and fun and even a little clumsy. Totally relatable!

Where to Find Mirabel at Disney World

Being able to encounter Mirabel at Disney World is magical if you know where to find her. The good news is that as of the date of this post, there are only a few places in the theme parks you can run into her. 

The first of which would be to the Mirabel character meet. This new meet experience is in the Fairytale Garden at Magic Kingdom Park. For those of you who are avid Disney goers, this is the location where the Merida meet used to take place. For those unfamiliar, take a quick trip down Main Street, then turn to the right once you get to Cinderella’s Castle. You will then take the path towards Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. As soon as you cross the bridge, look to the left, and you should see the Fairytale Garden right there waiting to welcome you!

You can check the My Disney Experience App for her greet times. Also, remember that she will likely not be visiting in inclement weather.

If you do not want to take the time to do the Mirabel character meet and greet but still want to see your favorite Encanto character, you do have options. 

Catch Mirabel and other character friends in the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade! This parade at Magic Kingdom Park typically happens a few times a day. Check your My Disney Experience mobile app for showtimes during your visit so you don’t miss out! The parade route starts in Frontierland, traveling  Liberty Square and down Main Street. The walkways fill up quickly with parade watchers, so snag your seat early!

What Questions to Ask Mirabel When You Meet Her

You decided to take the time to meet Mirabel at Disney World. It is almost your turn, yet you have no idea what you will say to her!

Never fear; I am totally going to help you out with some insider tips to take your good day to a great day. 

One of my favorite things to do at Disney is the character meets. Mirabel’s meet was a great addition and gave me a whole new challenge to engage with a new, popular character. 

My favorite moment when meeting Mirabel at Disney World was directly following my 7-year-old, telling her she had SO MUCH coffee that morning. (Mirabel believes coffee is for grown-ups.) 

Other questions that would be fun:

• If you could borrow one power from the Madrigal family, whose would it be?
• What is the funniest rumor you have heard about yourself around town?
• What is your favorite thing about living in a magical casita?
• How do you keep your curls that perfect in this heat?
• Have you seen that giant mouse walking around? (Mickey Mouse) Did he come with Antonio?
• What’s your favorite family tradition in the Encanto?
• What’s the funniest thing that’s happened during a family dinner in the Encanto?
• Do you ever sneak into Abuela’s room to borrow her magical items?

These questions should more than get the conversation going during your visit!

Creating Unforgettable Memories

We have discussed what to talk about when encountering Mirabel at Disney World. Now, let’s talk about ways to ensure your memories with her are magical!

Grab Your Autograph Collection Tool

Make sure you remember your autograph collection tool before you go to meet Mirabel. 

For many, this will be one of those nifty autograph books you get from a Disney gift shop. Others will bring a photo matte for characters around the park to sign, which will house a Disney photo from the trip. For us, this last trip it was an eight-dollar Disney Character coloring book.

 Whatever it is for you, do not forget it before you meet Mirabel!

Be Photo Ready

Taking photos with ANY characters on Disney property is encouraged during meet and greets. 

The only way to guarantee a photo with Mirabel is during this new meet, so be sure you are photo-ready!

Once you enter Fairytale Garden, you should notice a PhotoPass photographer in a green vest taking photos. This means you can scan your MagicBand if interested in the Memory Maker package and have all your images saved to your My Disney Experience App. 

If you have no interest in the Memory Maker package, no worries. Simply open your camera on your phone and ask a cast member to snap a quick picture or grab a few yourself. Don’t forget to jump in for a family photo, though!

Bringing Encanto Magic Home

Around the theme parks, you can find Encanto magic. Encanto character topiaries can now be seen during the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival. 

Outside Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park, there is an Encanto photo prop lending teasers of an Encanto attraction to come! 

Encanto merchandise is scattered throughout the shopping options in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Everything from your kid’s favorite toys to Encanto Loungefly’s can be found if you hunt hard enough!

If you have a die-hard Mirabel fan and want to bring home some Encanto magic, you can always spring for a Mirabel makeover! The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique In Magic Kingdom Park now offers Mirabel as an option for princesses to be made over into. Plus, you can go all out and buy the dress with the experience to take home with you!

Last Notes About Meeting Mirabel at Disney World

It is quickly being realized that Mirabel and her family are among many people’s favorite Disney characters. That said, some announcements have recently suggested we will see more of the Madrigal family soon. 

Disney has just confirmed ¡Celebración Encanto! will debut on June 10th, 2023 in EPCOT. While this will not include a character meet, to my knowledge, it will be a fun sing-along! I have not found information yet as to how long it will be going, but we can expect to be able to enjoy in the sunshine in the coming months.

Concept art that has been released before the date of this answer also suggests Casa Madrigal may soon find a home at the theme parks. At Destination D23, Disney revealed that la familia Madrigal could quickly have a home at the expansion of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. This sounds like good news for anyone whose favorite Disney characters are from Encanto!
